发展中世界工程技术院 (AETDEW)
2005年，77国集团和中国在多哈举行了第二次峰会，敦促教科文组织提高发展中国家的工程、技术、人力和机构能力。因此，2008年5月在吉隆坡成立了联合国教科文组织南南合作国际科学、技术和创新中心 (ISTIC) 。ISTIC由马来西亚政府科学、技术和创新部(MOSTI)主办，旨在通过科学、技术和创新协助发展中国家实现可持续发展。
为实现具有包容性的17项联合国可持续发展目标(SDGs)，需要发展中国家通过南南合作加大合作力度。因此，ISTIC在2015年提议成立发展中世界工程技术院(AETDEW)，以动员77国集团国家的政府、工业、学术界和民间社会组织的工程、技术和科学界，帮助它们实现联合国可持续发展目标。AETDEW注册于马来西亚，并于2017年5月在吉隆坡开始开展工作。目前，AEDTEW成员包括5名荣誉院士、约200名院士和外籍院士，主要担任以下机构的高层管理人员和前负责人：国际政府组织，如教科文组织、联合国南南合作办公室(UN SSC)和ISTIC；地区性政府组织，如东盟和生态科学基金会；国际科学和工程组织，如学会间伙伴关系(IAP)、东盟工程技术学院(AAET)；各国政府、国家科学院、国家工程师机构、国家注册委员会和工程师理事会以及主要的国家企业。
AETDEW旨在通过“一带一路”倡议（BRI）提高G77国家的本土工程技术、人力和机构能力，该倡议已几乎得到所有发展中国家的支持。AETDEW是中国瑞翼教育的合作伙伴，致力于将“数字一带一路双百计划”引入一带一路国家的百所大学，并成立“数字一带一路双百大学”合作项目。在过去的四年里，由于新冠疫情的影响，双百大学合作项目陷入停滞，目前已有约35所技术院校加入该项目。当前，这一情况有所好转。
